A Former Insider Breaks Silence
Ambassador Polepole, who served as Tanzania’s High Commissioner to Malawi (2022–2023) and Ambassador to Cuba (2023–2025), resigned from his post in July 2025, cing the government’s “disregard of the rule of law and the cons tu on.”
In the interview, Polepole alleged that former President John Magufuli was deliberately poisoned. He named businessman Rostam Aziz as the purported orchestrator of the act and described what he claimed was a covert opera on carried out during a poli cal event in southern Tanzania. According to Polepole, the opera on was allegedly facilitated by senior government figures, including former President Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and his associates, whom he referred to as “Kundi la Wanamtandao”.
